I have heard so many good things about this movie. So many in fact that I purchased the DVD without ever seeing it. I regret it now…that 15 dollars could have been spent so many better ways.
This film begins with an attempt on the life of the outspoken journalist, Deborah (Lee Grant), by Colt Hawker (Michael Ironside). Now, the first attempt fails, so he has to now go the hospital where she is after the injuries from the initial attack for the kill. Now, Hawker is revealed as a woman-hating rapist/murderer that takes pictures of his victims, making a mask of pictures, and really taking offense at Deborah’s exploits as a journalist. It all came from his father getting burnt badly by his mother during an attempted rape. That messed him all up and now he takes his vengeance on the world and just in case you don’t hate him enough, they let the audience know that he is also racist.
The bodies begin to pile up in the hospital, all courtesy of Hawker. The victims are just in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he hunts down his target. The eventual final showdown between Hawker and Deborah ends as planned with no surprises, no intrigue, and nothing memorable. This is a poor movie with nothing really interesting going on. Michael Ironside and William Shatner deliver as far as the acting goes, but that is all that I can say positive about this movie. I was very disappointed with this flick. It is not worth watching…trust me.
Scared Stiff Rating: 3/10. Gets a few points for the acting, but it just isn’t good.
