Grizzly (1976) – Movie Review

The 1970s put together the best horror movies and considering the time that GRIZZLY was made, it promised to be good. Most compare this movie to JAWS or call it a JAWS rip off, and although it is similar, it has a charm all of its own.

Michael Kelly (Christopher George) is a forest ranger with a problem on his hands. There are campers and hikers getting mauled to death by what is believed to be an 18 foot tall bear. Christopher George was such a great actor, starring in PIECES and GRADUATION DAY as well. He was also in MORTUARY with Bill Paxton, and he always brought his A game, and he had the ability to carry a movie.

The angry enormous grizzly bear is going on a killing spree and Kelly is not getting any help from upper management. They keep allowing people to hike and the press to cover the incidents, but when a young boy is mauled, the rules change and Kelly can now focus on taking down the big hairy bastard that has been going ape shit.

GRIZZLY is a great movie. It is fun from start to finish and the way that they take out the bear is something special. I highly recommend this.

Scared Stiff Rating: 8/10
