Rainn Wilson has joined popular true crime podcast creator and host, Payne Lindsey, in the new podcast, “Radio Rental.” From Tenderfoot TV, in partnership with Cadence13, “Radio Rental,” explores real-life stories set against the backdrop of a fictional video store. Episodes 1-4 are now live, with new episodes rolling out every Tuesday. Wilson voices the character of Terry Carnation, a video store clerk who holds a secret VHS collection that houses these true tales of horror and the unexplained. This marks the first semi-scripted series from podcasting powerhouse Tenderfoot TV, who is known for their five consecutive chart-topping true crime hits, tallying over 450 million downloads.
“‘Radio Rental’ is a unique take on telling true stories,” said Payne Lindsey, Co-founder of Tenderfoot TV and host of “Radio Rental.” “Rainn’s an incredible actor and has created the perfect character to introduce the world to ‘Radio Rental’.”
Actor, comedian, director, and writer Rainn Wilson, best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the NBC sitcom “The Office,” co-founder of digital media company SoulPancake, and host of recently released podcast “Metaphysical Milkshake,” will bring a mystifying spin to Lindsey’s newest podcast, as Terry Carnation, the video store clerk and gatekeeper to a cryptic collection of real-life horror stories. Carnation is the sometimes-host of the legendary late night AM call-in radio show “Dark Air.” He recently had a very public mental breakdown (which he apologizes for!) but is making his way back into the hosting world again.
“Strange, true, twisted stories narrated by the folks who experienced them? Sign me up!” said Rainn Wilson, voice of Terry Carnation.
Over the course of each episode, Wilson, appearing as his character Terry Carnation, takes us into a dark, fictional world, as Lindsey speaks with people who’ve lived to tell their terrifying tale, spanning from eerie experiences with the dead, to close shave encounters with killers, to unexplained phenomena that continues to haunt each storyteller. The first four episodes of the podcast are available now, with subsequent episodes premiering every Tuesday.
At the center of Tenderfoot TV’s podcasts is a story that has been otherwise forgotten or ignored. The team created hit true crime podcast franchises “Up and Vanished”, “Monster”, “Sworn,” “To Live and Die in LA” and their latest, “Culpable.” The launch of “Radio Rental” will be the company’s first step into scripted podcasting .
