Tarot cards are always a lot of fun and for those that enjoy the practice, a collector’s item is available for pre-order.  Necronomicon Tarot Deck and Guidebook features some great artwork inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s work. Just looking through the cards, I really enjoyed the artwork.  

There really isn’t another Tarot card set like this.   The quality is great and the box that the cards come in is very durable.  It also comes with a 128-page booklet and guidebook that compliments the set and also gives extensive breakdowns of each card and what they mean and how they work.

I’m happy to have this in my collection of morbid things and it’s really the perfect gift for those that acquire the same things.  It’s great for those with interest in Tarot cards and those that appreciate good artwork.

I highly recommend Necronomicon Tarot Deck and Guidebook.  I really liked the presentation, quality and collector’s appeal.

OK, I’m a big fan of scalloped potatoes.  Actually, anything potato will call my name.  I’m Irish, so maybe that’s it.  Whatever the case, potatoes have my number and the scalloped potatoes are one of my favorite ways to prep them.  So, after trying the burgers, I cooked up some of the filet mignons on the grill, as directed by the book that came with the order.  I then placed a few of the individually scalloped potatoes in the oven. 

I’m not a steak guy buy my wife and daughter sure as hell are.  So, I had a burger and one of the scalloped potato deals for my dinner, using A-1 sauce on the burger and saving the potato thing for last.  As it turned out, I saved the best for last.  As an expert in potatoes, these are the best scalloped potatoes I’ve had. 

It comes in circular form and is a mix of scalloped and mashed with some sort of cheese sauce, I think, mixed in.  I immediately regretted not making two for myself.  I won’t make that mistake again.

The Individually Scalloped Potatoes from Omaha Steaks is really an amazing side dish.  I don’t always give a ranking to food, but I’m going to do it here.  These are a 10/10.   It’s just the perfect mix and taste.  I look forward to having them again.

I am a man of impulse.   I often buy things out of boredom and when I’m hungry and bored, I might expect a box of candy bars to arrive at my house, or, in this case, my first order to Omaha Steaks. 

I bought steaks, burgers, some apple things and some potato things, but the first thing that I wanted to try was their Omaha Steak Burgers.  I’m a burger guy and I’m a grill guy and I’m also a cornhole, drink hard iced tea, big BBQ party guy.  I have a hard time finding good burgers but when I am desperate to get a good one, I will drive 40 minutes to get farm fresh burger. The grocery stores tend to have very mediocre meat. 

The Omaha Steaks Burgers come frozen, which I will now say, I’ve never had a frozen burger that I was particularly fond of.  Those Bubba burgers that everyone raves about do nothing for me.  So, I was dealing with a frozen burger here and I wondered, will it be the first frozen burger that I’ve liked.

As suggested, I let the burger thaw and then used some salt, pepper and garlic powder on it and then warmed up my grill.  I got it to 450 degrees and placed the burger on and sat in my backyard, enjoying the 70 degree weather. 

The burger looked a little small when I first saw it and I was worried that it would be really small once it was cooked, but, it didn’t shrink at all and when I put it on the roll, it was a full sized burger.  It fit the roll and I was ready to give it a go. 

The one problem with frozen burgers more than anything is texture.  I’ve found them to be rough to eat, but the Omaha Steaks Burgers had really good texture and flavor.  Although they didn’t have big shoes to fill, these are the best frozen burgers I’ve ever had.  I used ketchup and mustard and American cheese, if you’re interested and put it on a sesame seed roll that I toasted on the grill.   I’m pretty surprised at how good these were and now I’m glad I bought a box.

Omaha Steaks Burgers are very good.  Being individually packed makes them perfect for me because I only eat one burger and I’m used to throwing several away because I don’t cook them in time.  These will not go to waste.  I highly recommend these.  Now, I’m excited about trying the other stuff they have.

Perhaps I’m a coffee snob and that is why my review of MARKET & MAIN ITALIAN ROAST COFFEE is so scathing, but I am trying to be fair about this.  I didn’t expect Starbucks coffee when I bought a pack of 18 Keurig-compatible single-serve coffees for $5.99 USD. 

I began my day with a cup of 1850, which is actually decent coffee.  I liked their marketing approach and gave them a shot and am glad that I did.  For a cup of coffee, you could do worse, like Market & Main for example.  So, I brewed the Market & Main Italian Roast and noticed right away that it was light.  I’m used to the Italian blend being dark, but this one was not, and I used the proper amount of water for you pricks out there that will suggest otherwise.

I added just cream to the coffee because I wanted to taste it without my trusty hazelnut syrup that I like to use.  It was weak as hell, which is what I suspected.  I felt that I was drinking very hot water.  So, I added hazelnut syrup to it to make it taste better and now it was like I was drinking very hot water with hazelnut syrup.   Well, this sucks ass.  I’ve only drank one of the eighteen I have.  Well, now I know to offer coffee to any and all guests that come to my home.  I have to get rid of it one way or the other.

I did finish the cup because I felt I needed to to be fair with this review. It didn’t give me heartburn, which is good.  That’s a point for the people at Market & Main.  A lot of cheap coffees tend to give me heartburn.   That’s the only positive I can come up with for this product.  Damn, Ocean State Job Lot, be a little pickier with your shit.  You’re 0-2 in my product reviews.

Despite my dislike for this product, there are people, for some reason, that prefer weak coffee and this will fill that void.  This is also good for those scumbags that sit at Denny’s and take full advantage of their free refills on their shit coffee without ever ordering any food or leaving any tip. 

For anyone that likes a good cup of coffee with flavor or strength, this is not for you.  This is very weak and flavorless shit that is only good for the guests that you don’t care for too much.  You can smile at them and note “isn’t this good coffee”, making them drink it down and pretend it’s awesome.  Otherwise, avoid this coffee and get some of that 1850 stuff.  It’s relatively cheap and tastes pretty damn good or go with Starbucks, but I probably didn’t have to tell you that.

You’d think that buying a side dish at Ocean State Job Lot would end well, but sorry to say that the Sophia Italian Four Cheese Risotto failed to live up to expectations.  I love rice and I like the Knorr Selects Risotto and even found a good Risotto at Wal-Mart that they called “Sam’s Choice.”  I wonder if Sam had the choice between that one and Sophia’s.  If that’s the case, good choice Sam.

When I opened the box, it looked like Sam’s Choice and was pretty confident that my chicken would have a good partner in this risotto dish.  I was ready to call Ocean State Job Lot and put in my order for a truck load of it to be brought to my house. I’m glad I didn’t.

So, I prepped it exactly as they said I should.  I fought my instincts to add the butter with the water and to not add milk to it.  I did it as they suggested and then watched as it thickened up and looked the part.  Sophia got that shit down.  I’ll give her that.  It looked the way that it should have.

I added the parmesan cheese (not bought at Job Lot) as instructed and sat down for a nice feast, but damn, Sophia fucked this shit up.  It really didn’t have much of a taste and was really pasty with a bad aftertaste.  This shit is not Geno’s Choice for sure.  I decided to try a few more spoonfuls of it to see if that would change, but it didn’t.  This stuff sucks and I bought two fucking boxes.  Is a box of Sophia’s Four Cheese Risotto a good Christmas gift for somebody?  I hope so.  Some unlucky pecker is going to get it.  You’ll know I like you the least if you get a wrapped gift with the risotto and the shitty wine that I’ve had in my wine rack for the past year.  I hate when people buy me cheap shit wine. 

Overall, if there is no other Risotto in the entire world, try out Sophia’s.    Otherwise, just say no.  I’m still trying to get the pasty feeling off my tongue.  It feels like I was tonguing Elmer (Of Elmer’s glue).  At least I had good chicken.

I have a nine year old that is very much into horror and was quite irritated recently at some zombie show for kids where the zombies did not eat brains. She objected and declared that it was factually wrong.  Well, they do eat brains of course and my daughter’s love of the horror sub-genre and characters led to ZOMBIE ROADKILL ESCAPE RC TRUCK.   With the holiday almost upon us, this was an easy pick up for my daughter, but I decided to carefully open it up and test it before she gets it.  I’m the parent after all and have to make sure it’s appropriate for her…right?  OK, fine, I wanted to play with it.

ZOMBIE ROADKILL ESCAPE RC TRUCK is made by the people at Redneck Roadkill Radio Control and they have a ton of different sets, but the zombies is where I was focused.  After carefully opening the box, I was immediately impressed with the art.  From the tow truck to the zombies that you can stand up and mow down, this set is just fun to look at, but I’m not here to just look at it.  I’m playing with this thing.

The truck moves.  I have to say that I found it incredibly fun to zoom it around my kitchen and knock down the walking dead.  There’s a crane that has a mind of its own and proved a lot of fun too as I took down those dirty zombies.  This set is really about the fun it provides.  My daughter is going to love this.  I might have to buy another for myself.

All of the boxes are checked here.  The truck is made well and operates well.  The zombies have a lot of character and are unique.  They added in heads that will pop off if hit just right as a bonus.   Put this all together, and it’s just fun.  That’s the point.  It’s fun and who doesn’t like fun?  

ZOMBIE ROADKILL RC TRUCK is a must own for any zombie lover and anyone that has a kid that digs horror.  I will be carefully putting this thing back into its box and wrapping it up for my 9 year old.  It’s sad that I have to wait until Xmas to play with this one again.   I highly recommend it and you can see the sense of humor that the creators at Redneck Roadkill Radio Control have.  It comes out in every bit of this set and their other sets as well.

I buy a lot of shit. I am not afraid to try new things and sometimes the leap of faith is a good one. Other times, not so much. It should be hard to screw up chocolate cereal. I love nearly all of it. Cocoa Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs, Cocoa Krispies and Count Chocula are quite good, but then you have Chocolate Frosted Flakes. I made the mistake of buying that shit. It was like eating chocolate rocks. So, when I bought Chocolate Toast Crunch, I figured it had to be better than the Frosted Flakes effort and it was, but not by much.

Do you care that I use 2% milk? I’m not sure. I’ve not done a cereal review before, but in case you’re curious, I have not tried this product with anything but the 2% that was in my fridge. My first impression was that they smelled a little strange. I got the chocolate but they just didn’t smell as I thought they would. BUT I paid my 4 dollars for the box and I was going to eat the damn stuff.

The texture is identical to Golden Grahams and I love Golden Grahams. Why the fuck didn’t I buy Golden Grahams instead? The taste would best be described as chalky. As advertised the crunch is there and if you are only looking for a crunch, you can get it here, but I wanted more than that.

Since they sucked initially, I let them set in the milk a smidge to give them a little softness. Perhaps the combo of my 2% milk and cereal would be a winner. I finished the bowl and said “yuck.” What fucking test group would pass this stuff onto the public? I bet that the test group ate bowl after bowl of even shittier stuff and when this came to the table, they said “at least it’s crunchy…it’s a pass!” Four dollars down the shitter.

There’s more to this story. I drank almost 32 ounces of water after. It wasn’t to get rid of the taste. It just made me very thirsty. What the hell was in this crap?! The aftertaste is also something that you will have to contend with here.

Chocolate Toast Crunch sucks. I suspect it will be off the market soon. There are way better choco-options out there. This one doesn’t even try. I want my four dollars back and the two bottled waters I had to down to get rid of the remnants.

Rating: 1/10. Gotta give it a point for the crunch.
