PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Two young adults in Shanghai, living separate lives, do what they can to break out of their postmodern loneliness in INTIMACY, the debut feature film from Chinese director Yichun Jiang, whose previous work played in the Cannes Short Film Corner.
Bin, from the town of Dali, runs a tourist shop with his mother, but he longs to see the broader world and escape his monotonous life. Meanwhile, Qin comes from a relatively rich family, does nothing all day and usually feels depressed for no reason. She, too, is searching for greater meaning. When their two worlds overlap in seemingly the least consequential of ways — also, perhaps, the most substantial — the lives of these two alienated young adults will be changed forever in a compelling coming-of-age drama starring Jingxuan Huang and Xipeng Zhang.
